Annual Fall Garden Festival 11/20/2021 9:00 AM – 11/21/2021 4:00 PM

On November 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Edison and Ford Winter Estates will hold its annual fall Garden Festival. More than 40 garden vendors from around the state of Florida will have tropical and native plants and trees for sale. The festival takes place outdoors, under large shade trees and also features food trucks and live music.

Vendors will have many types of plants and trees, including palms, fruit trees, bromeliads, hibiscus, butterfly plants, African violets, orchids, air plants, herbs, succulents, cacti and many hard-to-find species. Vendors will also offer garden supplies, such as fertilizer and worm castings. The Edison Garden Shoppe will be open and have unusual tropical and Florida native plants that thrive in Southwest Florida.

A limited number of garden carts will be available, so guests are encouraged to bring a cart or wagon for transporting plants. A designated plant holding tent and loading spot will be offered for anyone needing assistance. Parking and admission to the festival is free (tours of the homes, museum and lab are not included).

Holiday Nights Opening Night 11/26/2021 6:00 PM – 11/26/2021 9:00 PM

Join us for our tree lighting ceremony to kick off the 46th annual Holiday Nights celebration!Guests can participate in the countdown with Dave Elias from NBC-2 when the historic Mysore Fig on the Ford property will be lit with thousands of animated lights choreographed to holiday music. Female vocalists, The American Sirens, will perform shortly after the tree lighting. The event is sponsored by Bob Dean Supply, Florida Power & Light, Sunbelt Rentals, and TriCircle Pavers.

This year’s theme is “Holidays Under the Stars” and will incorporate elements of nature and the outdoors. Holiday Nights will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, but closed Christmas Day. Through January 2, guided Holiday Tradition Tours will be offered at 6 and 7 p.m. every night or visitors can meander at their own pace on a self-guided tour. The Ford Cottage Shoppe, Museum Store and Garden Shoppe will be open until 9 p.m. every night and will be stocked with unique gift items for that hard-to-buy-for loved one.

Holiday Nights tickets for adults are $20, teens (13-19) $10, children (6-12) are $2 and Edison Ford members get in free. Guided Holiday Tradition Tours are $30 for adults, teens are $25, children $18 and $10 for Edison Ford members.

School Break Camp: Code Camp 11/22/2021 9:00 AM – 11/24/2021 4:00 PM

School Break camps are designed for students ages 6 to 12 when school is out. Campers explore Edison’s “living laboratory” while our educators, called “Wild Wizards,” teach topics in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), history and the natural world. This popular three-day camp teaches the basic logic of computer science. Campers will explore loops, switches, and functions that make up the building blocks of a video game. They will get to take home a drive with their creations and a library of code examples. Register online at edisonford.org.

Garden Talk: Build an Herb Mound 11/13/2021 10:00 AM – 11/13/2021 11:30 AM

For anyone who is interested in growing their own herbs that they can use in their favorite recipes, this is the class for you! During this talk, we will discuss the different types that grow well in Florida and how to build successful herb mounds in your own yard, highlighting the best soil to use. If you have questions about your garden or raised beds, be sure to bring them along with you. Participants will receive a 20% off coupon for use towards plants in the Garden Shoppe. After registering, meet behind the Banyan tree in the old café area. Advanced registration is not required.
