Cape Coral

Located right next to Fort Myers along the Gulf of Mexico sits Cape Coral, FL. Cape Coral is known for many things, one is its immense amount of homes that sit along the 400 plus miles of canals. You can easily hop right into a boat and cruise the canals or head straight out to the Gulf of Mexico via the Caloosahatchee River or the Matlacha Pass. If you love watersports, fishing, or just beautiful views Cape Coral, FL is a great place to live.

Fun fact: Cape Coral is approximately 120 square miles making it the third-largest city in the state. Cape Coral has amazing nature preserves which could be one of the reasons that the city has the largest population of burrowing owls in Florida! There are many fun things to do in Cape Coral.

Here are a few things we like to do!
Check out Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve.  Covering 365 acres, it is the second-largest preserved natural space in Cape Coral. A mix of marshland and river systems, visitors have access to the area by utilizing a series of walking trails or even by kayaking.

One place we love to catch the sunset in Cape Coral is The Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill!  Located at the tip of  Cape Coral Yacht Club, The Boathouse is a tiki bar and grill and the perfect place for seafood, sandwiches, cocktails, and live entertainment on the beach. They even have a dock so you can come by boat!

If you have children, a great place to cool off on a hot day is Sun Splash Family Waterpark. A 14-acre compound of water entertainment and activities that are great for the whole family. The waterpark has a lazy river, an ecological boardwalk, racing slides, volleyball courts, and much more!

For my rum enthusiast or just those just looking for something fun to do, The Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery is a well-known distillery here in Cape Coral and offers a really fun and engaging tour of its facilities you have to check out!

Another must-do in Cape Coral is to check out the Cape Coral Farmers’ Market.  A popular destination for locals and visitors, the market has many offerings which include locally grown produce, meats and cheeses, baked goods, cut flowers, handcrafted goods, and much more! The market offerings also include a variety of food truck vendors, who sell unique street food from their location parked just outside of the market grounds.
